Agnes Buronyi
Agnes Buronyi was born in Budapest, Hungary, and now resides in Sydney, Australia.
Her artistic journey began in 2009 as a self-taught artist, initially crafting portraits in graphite and charcoal. As her passion grew, she sought formal education, studying life drawing, watercolour, and oil painting at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. She further honed her skills in concept art at CG Master Academy. Additionally, she acquired a diploma in Graphic Design at Shillington College. Over the years, her repertoire expanded to include watercolours, acrylics, oils, and digital media.
From 2010 to 2022, she pioneered the online art education scene in her native country. During this time, she has consistently shared her drawing and painting knowledge with an ever-expanding digital community.
Initially captivated by realism, Agnes' style matured into an illustrative approach, highlighting her keen interest in fashion and lifestyle depictions. Her endless curiosity and zest for experimentation led her to the mesmerising and intricate medium of glass. This choice mirrored her passion for a medium that could uniquely voice her individuality and deeply resonate with her artistic vision.
Every art piece by Agnes showcases more than just her skill — it's a testament to her bravery, dedication, and the multifaceted stories she wishes to tell. The captivating play of light and shadow on glass, along with the medium's inherent fragility and strength, captivates her.
Agnes' subjects predominantly revolve around the themes of strength, diversity, and the beauty of women. Her characters come alive in realistic or semi-realistic styles, focusing on expressive portraits. The emphasis she places on facial details and gazes imbues her work with depth and feeling. Her use of glass as a medium reflects the inherent qualities of her subjects: beauty, resilience, and fragility.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, she has a background in finance and is currently delving into the world of data science by pursuing a master's degree. This analytical base greatly influences her artistic methodology, seamlessly merging a detailed, discerning outlook with her creative passion.
Through her art, Agnes wishes to inspire, provoke thought, and establish a deep connection with her audience. Her pieces beckon viewers to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in the narrative. By crafting intricate art that epitomises the juxtaposition of strength and fragility, Agnes offers a compelling commentary on life, much like the glass medium she masterfully manipulates.
